water towers...

found this nice blog and remembered the joy of drawing water towers, late on a summer day.

another bad movie and life time lost...

... the kids play well, but look sort of embarrassed. No wonder. Man, if the characters didn't wear exactly the same clothes from scene to scene all year round you wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Labeled as a romantic comedy, this one has no chemistry, old jokes, ugly photography. Watching paint dry is more fun. Your life is too short to see Every Other Week.

the original

... rocks supreme. As always. Full story: here.

Flesh and bones of that Gnarls Barkley song "Crazy" comes from an old Terence Hill film.

Soothing Spaghetti Western sounds from forty years back: Gianfranco Reverberi - "Nel Cimitero Di Tucson".

you paid him to say that...

Philip Seymour Hoffman shows endless ways of putting his foot in his mouth. Catherine Keener holds him when he's about to fall from over the effort.

Capote really becomes an illuminating story of friendship.

Kullaberg in NYC

Kullaberg is shown at a festival in NYC this Wednesday. In great company too, click the logo to see the lineup of cool animation and music.

"New Swedish video lands at The Tank in Tribeca on Wednesday, September 13th at 7:30pm. PD03: Daydream Nation, a curated lineup of animated shorts, music videos, and artist films rarely seen outside of their native Nordic kingdom, showcases work from some of the best and most creative Swedish imaginations around."

paris antoinette

I love the trailer to Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette". To have Kirsten Dunst jump around to New Order's "Age of Consent" is pure genius, Paris Hilton never got historical context like this before.
Coppola manages to (at least in the trailer) rejuvenate the period piece, the teen drama and the history lesson, all with swift strokes of the same sword.

A Knight's Tale meets The Rules of Attraction.

the time radio

I modified an mp3 player to fit inside a broken 60's transistor radio. I kept all the old controls so you can't tell what's inside (micro switches from a butchered car stereo connecting to the old controls, more pictures here). To complete the illusion I loaded the mp3 player with tons of vintage radio shows

Blaring away garage rock and old mystery shows in the kitchen, the illusion of broadcasts from yesteryear is pretty solid. A few random comments on solar flares and worm holes and I look forward to the Weirdest Neighbor Platinum Award this year. ;)

Maybe he cut the line. Maybe he pulled a bad joke on yellow tail.
